World Record Orchestral Bassist Jane Little Passes Away On Stage at 87 Years Old

Jane Little, a bassist for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra for more than 71 years, passed away this weekend doing what she loved.

Little was 4’11” tall and chose the double bass as a child while shopping for instruments with her father. She was known for her dedication to music and for always wearing a smile. Jane joined the symphony in 1945 when she was sixteen years old and was recognized as ‘longest orchestral tenure’ by The Guiness World Records this past February.

Jane passed away this weekend while performing with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, a place she called home for so long and where her legacy and spirit will live on for years to come. She is an inspiration to us all.


Born on All Hallow’s Eve with an affinity for things that go bump in
the night; his favorite horror movies include Psycho, Seven, The
Shining, and Silence of The Lambs. His music of choice is edgy,
has brains, a big heart and a giant middle finger.
