Michelle Williams Eyed for Starring Role in Janis Joplin Biopic

Four years after we found out there will be a biopic about singer Janis Joplin, we finally have some idea of what is going on! We were pulled back and forth between possible directors and leads all these years finally to hear that Sean Durkin is set to direct, and he is in talks with Michelle Williams to play the lead.

According to indiewire:

The film will tell the story of the last six months of Joplin’s life before she tragically died of a drug overdose in 1970. It will be produced by Peter Newman, the producer behind films like “Swimming to Cambodia” and “The Squid and the Whale,” as well as Durkin and his production company Borderline Films.

Williams has an incredible resume, starring in such celebrated films as “Brokeback Mountain,” Todd Haynes’ “I’m Not There,” and even Martin Scorsese’s “Shutter Island.” What do you think of Williams as Joplin? Let us know in the comments and keep an eye on our page for more updates!
